Bahamian Boxers Qualify for Olympic Trials

The Boxing Federation of The Bahamas on Saturday 21st November held its “box-off” to qualify boxers to travel to the Olympic qualifier in Argentina in March of 2016.

The event was held at the Ray Minus Gym on Wulff Road, said Boxing Federation President Wellington Miller.  “All boxers gave everything they had in order to make the team.  It was a very exciting event.”

Results: In the 56kg category, Ronald Woodside defeated Kenrick Stuart.  At the 64 kg class, Rashield Williams defeated Tyrone Oliver.  In the 69kg category, Carl Hield got a bye.  In the superheavyweight class (91+kg), Kieshno Major defeated Amron Sands.

The Bahamas will send a team of four boxers to Argentina in March, 2016 to take part in an Olympic Qualifier there to attempt to book their tickets to the 2016 Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
