Freeport, Bahamas - The Grand Bahama Women’s Champion’s League kicked off at 2:30 on April 9th with Chelsea’s coach Mike Dossantos declaring that the league would not be tied after his team played the top dogs from last year Borussia Dortmund. The game was entertaining and balanced in play. Both teams had multiple chances without putting the ball in the back of the net. Midway through the second half of the game, Coach Mike put in Phoebe Wilson, a young rookie, and she broke down the compact defense of Borussia Dortmund by staying wide on the wing and varying up the type of balls she put in to her players. This strategy was successful as Chelsea’s Hanna Joy Simms scored in the 73rd minute and the last minute of the game. Final result Chelsea 2-0.

The second game was a nail biter as well. In the 24th minute, Barcelona’s goalkeeper tried to make an unsuccessful diving save and experienced back spasms and had to be taken out of the game. Goal l scorer Ruby Brown and her team mates did not get to enjoy the lead for long, as the Real Madrid’s coach’s daughter, Janeka Edey, answered back for Barcelona in the 31st minute with a half volley, undoubtedly the best goal of the season. The goal inspired Barcelona and their defense was incredible and despite not having their starting goalkeeper, the replacement goalkeeper, Kameisha Brown and her team shut down the Real Madrid squad for a 1-1 tie.
