The creators of the Chickcharney Challenge have designed a relay event like nothing ever seen in the Bahamas. The Chickcharney Relays will be the hottest ticket in town November 7th.

The local obstacle-course-run pioneers, who recently donated a wheelchair to the Bahamas National Council For Disability out of proceeds from their inaugural events, are putting together the most exciting 400 plus metre, sprint course for four-man relay teams. And, now part of the proceeds from this event will go toward helping victims of Hurricane Joaquin.

“This course will be fast, with obstacles coming at you around corner and from every angle,” said Chickcharney Chirren President, Jason Taylor. “We wanted to bring the excitement of relay competition to the grand excitement of obstacle course running. Think American Ninja Warrior, but with Bahamians.”

The group’s first two events were three mile obstacle courses inside Clifton Heritage Park. Each event, held February and April of this year, featured 10 to 12 obstacles. The Chickcharney Relays will squeeze that number and more into Botanical Gardens.

“We changed venues because we didn’t need such a large expanse as Clifton for a relay event,” Said Mr. Taylor. “But, Botanical Gardens still has the feel of being in the bush, which is a key feature of our challenges.”

The Chickcharney Relays whose major sponsors are Island Luck and Suntee, will be an annual family event. The group contends that this will be the most exciting fitness event on the island for the year.

“And the beauty is it’s for everyone,” said the group’s Chief Operating Officer, Tokoyo Duncombe. “This event is not for the elite athlete. This event is for everyone who wants to challenge themselves and other teams to a fun relay race, with cool prizes at the finish.”

The Chickcharney Chirren continues to support the National Council for Disability through its events and hope participation will help them to purchase a second wheelchair.

Groups wishing to sign up for the event can do so online at www.challengeyourself.fit or at Pappasurf in the Henrea Carlette Plaza, Cable Beach.
