Nassau, The Bahamas - The amount of $20,000 will be contributed to the upcoming 19th Annual Farmers Cay Regatta in aid of its success by the Ministry of Agriculture & Marine Resources.

The Hon. V. Alfred Gray, Minister of Agriculture & Marine Resources on January 20 at the Ministry announced that the Regatta is being held in honour of the late Frank Hanna under the theme, "Sailing with the Legend" and is scheduled for February 3rd or 4th, 2017 in Farmers Cay, Exuma.  Alfred Rolle and Cecil Smith of the Farmers Cay Regatta Committee were present.

Minister Gray said: "The Regatta Committee has chosen to honour the late Frank Hanna, who was a pioneer in supporting Regattas not only in Farmers Cay, but throughout The Bahamas.  At his passing, many expressed the tremendous loss of his presence and contribution in and to the Regatta community.  As one writer suggested, 'Frank Hanna was a seismograph that brought meaning to everything cultural, and his calm charity was unselfish and pure.'

"For this, I wish to extend my sincere gratitude on behalf of the descendants of Farmers Cay and The Bahamian people for choosing to honour such a remarkable man who also contributed to the country as a businessman and an ambassador."

Minister Gray encouraged all Bahamians to generously support this event.
