Freeport, Bahamas - Formerly set for the end of July, the Grand Bahama Cyclist's Club will now host their 3rd Annual Time Trial Championships on Saturday October 1st, 2016 at 8:00am near the Airport roundabout on the Grand Bahama Highway.

On Sunday October 2nd, 2016 at 8:00am near the Airport roundabout on the Grand Bahama Highway will be the 12th Annual Grand Bahama Road Cycling Championships.

"This is considered the Grand Showdown with two former Grand Bahama Road Cycling Champions," said Rowshan Jones, President, GBCC, "The two most recent national champions as well as national team members Anthony Colebrooke and Jay Major will go head to head for the first time in over 3 years."

"Anthony is the reigning national road cycling champion and Jay Major is the former national road race champion who crashed out of the national championships and therefore has not only a point to prove, but perhaps an axe to grind! However, there are other contenders for the crown as well. There are a few surprise guests who could just as well turn up to interrupt the Anthony/Jay showdown."

Rivalries have also been built in the other categories said Jones, with cyclists like Kenton Roker and David Mellor proving themselves to be real forces to reckon with. "Added to the fray is also Barron Turbo Musgrove, who is another former Grand Bahama Road Cycling Champion, and might the great Kim Thompson also make an appearance. For what he now lacks in speed he surely makes up in psychological cunning. This year promises to be a real clash between Grand Bahama and New Providence!" said Jones.

The public is invited to come out to watch and there will also be a Junior Division for kids between 10 – 17 years olds.

"There is always excitement at the finish. As usual I am also looking for volunteers to assist with registration on the mornings of the races. If you are free to assist or would like to know more about the two events, kindly drop me a response."
