Freeport, The Bahamas - The Grand Bahama Girls' Soccer League current season began in September 2014 and culminated on February 28th, 2015.
The league caters to girls ages 5 - 16
years and through volunteer coaches and refs, and enthusiastic parents skills training and games took place every Saturday at the Freeport Rugby Football Club.
A new older league has been launched with approximately 60 players with 4 squads representing Chelsea, Barcelona, Borussia Dortmund, and Real Madrid, and with all players wearing authentic club kit. The players range in ages from twelve years to the mid-twenties
The new older league is hoped to revive women’s soccer as a competitive sport on the island, and gives the younger girls who played in the Saturday league to now hone their skills in company with more seasoned and physically stronger players.
The competition is to be played out on every Sunday afternoon until mid-May. The team and kit sponsors are Paradox Security, Pharmachem, Sanitation Services and Subway.
