Freeport, The Bahamas - The Grand Bahama Golf Association is conducting the second annual Grand Bahama Open on Grand Bahama Island May 26th – May 29th, 2011. This event was created to attract golfers from other places to visit and enjoy Grand Bahama Island. The hope is that the event will become one that will showcase our golf courses, our Island and our people.

Three golf courses will be used for the competition. The Bahama Reef Golf Course, The Lucayan Golf Course and The Ruby Golf Course.

The Grand Bahama Open’s title sponsor is the FML Group of Companies owned by Craig Flowers, a Nassau businessman whose contributions to the game of golf and its growth continues to be critical for the advancement of Junior Golfers in the Bahamas. Other sponsors include SkyBahamas, The Bahamas Weekly, Red Beard's Pub, and Millie's Car Rental.

Last year Greg Maycock won the Professional division, Peter McIntosh the Championship Flight (0-6 Handicap Flight), RH Culmer (7-13 Handicap Flight), Ken Basden (14 – 18 Handicap Flight) and Mackey Missick (Handicap Flight 19+).

The flights for this year are as follows:
       
Championship Flight      0 – 5            Handicap
West End Flight             6 – 9            Handicap
8 Mile Rock Flight          10 – 13         Handicap
Pelican Point Flight        14 – 18        Handicap
McLeans Town Flight     19 -23          Handicap
Pinders Point Flight        24 – 28        Handicap
Freeport Flight               29 +             Handicap


The Bahamas Golf Federation’s National Amateur Open title is also being played for by all entrants and the Bahamas Golf Federation’s Presidents Cup is being played for all entrants who are financial members of the Bahamas Golf Federation.

Your entry fee of $300 includes: 1 practise round; 3 tournaments rounds of golf; opening Pairings Party; 2 evening Happy Hours; tournament gift bag; awards and prizes.
