Eight Mile Rock, Grand Bahama – The Bahamas and in particular Grand Bahama Island has no shortage of sports talent. In fact, many of the country’s top athletes hail from the second city. From Golden Knights Demetrius Pinder and Micheal Mathieu to gold medal high jumper Donald Thomas, Grand Bahamian athletes have continued to leave their mark both locally and internationally and BTC has been there to support them all.

For residents in West Grand Bahama though, few names carry more weight than that of the six-foot WNBA phenom Jonquel Jones. The 23-year-old forward for the Connecticut Suns was born and raised on Grand Bahama Island and has represented her community and country with pride.

“Jonquel is exactly the kind of Grand Bahamian we want to honor which is why we made her one of our Brand Ambassadors. Residents around the island of Grand Bahama have likely seen the company’s popular mobile sales stations which currently feature Jonquel’s image during our Retail on the move initiative” noted Marketing Manager Leteasha Lord. “In addition to bringing better mobile pricing to the Eight Mile Rock community and providing another layer of convenience for our customers through our flagship store presence, our mobile vehicles, also give residents in the West the opportunity to see one of their own featured and recognized and celebrated in a major way”.

Jones returned home recently where she was hosted by BTC’s Northern Bahamas team during their two-day blow out sale and community outreach which saw scores of area residents, families and children come out to be a part of the day’s festivities at the EMR Flagship location.

The day was filled with DJ Music and Performances, great food and bouncing castles and face painting for children. During her visit to the store Jonquel was able to interact with fans and friends and family signing merchandise and autographs for her many supporters.

“I love to come home and be with my friends and family to just relax and unwind” Jones gushed. “Being with BTC is a great experience and I am grateful to be a part of it and I’m just excited to see what’s in store in the future.”
