Freeport, Bahamas - Borussia Dortmund and Chelsea FC both have something to fight for this weekend at the Freeport Rugby Football Club field. Coach Donnie Knowles and the Dortmund team and staff want to defend their title as League Champs from last year while, Coach Michael DosSantos and his Chelsea players and staff, want to regain the title they had in 2015.

The two teams have met on three occasions this year. They have defeated each other once and the last game resulted in a tie. This game is definitely the most highly contested match of the season. Both teams have one advantage. Chelsea has very experienced strong players and for the most part, are injury free. Borussia Dortmund leads the league standings with one point, meaning they would still win if the game is tied at the end of regulation time, and they have been plagued with injuries this year.

One thing is for sure, neither team is going to go down without a fight! "Come and watch and we guarantee you, you will not be disappointed with the level of play from these girls," said Coach Donnie Knowles, Women's League Founder. "Both teams have players who have represented the Bahamas on a number of occasions."

The first Women’s League Championship game will be played at 2:30 pm on Sunday, June 18. It will also be a highly battled contest between Real Madrid and Barcelona. Both teams are on par so it will come down to coaching strategies for Coach Theo Hutson with Barcelona and Coach Jake Edey with Real Madrid. Although the teams are lagging in the standings, they have lost games by near margins. Barcelona lost to Chelsea 3-2 in the final minutes of the game last week. It was a game that fans are claiming was one of the most exciting and nerve wracking games of the season.

High School boys’ games will also be played this the weekend. Coach Carlton Adderley and the Future Stars from Nassau will meet up against a combined team of St George’s and Sir Jack Hayward at 12pm on Saturday and have a second match 12pm on Sunday, June 18th, before the girls kick off at 2:30. The High School champs Tabernacle Academy Falcons will play the Future Stars from Nassau at 3pm on Saturday.

Following the games on Sunday, the Champions will be crowned with an Awards presentation and food feast.

"The Champions Women’s League would like to publicly thank and invite their sponsors to attend the event, said Knowles. "Subway Sandwiches and Paradox Securities teams, Real Madrid and Barcelona will play in the first game and the game promises to be very competitive and entertaining. Sanitation Services who sponsors Borussia Dortmund, and Pharma Chem who sponsors Chelsea, will be in the finals at 4:15 pm and that game is going to be HOT!"

"We invite the public to come out and support our youth in a positive, wholesome atmosphere. You will be entertained, even if you do not know soccer that well."

If you would like more information, contact Mary or Donnie Knowles at 375-0210 (4).

NOTE: Jack Hayward English Premiere Camp starts Monday June 19-23rd for the reduced price of $100 and the campers can pick up their uniforms  at the club on Sunday from 1-4pm. The coaches from the United States and England will be present at the games.
