Mexico, the defending CONCACAF champions bid farewell to this 2013 edition after being pushed off the road by El Salvador, the Azteca could not be contented with anything else than the victory and the third place. It was nothing easy, though, as Costa Rica had thoroughly proven to be a fierce contender. Only after a terribly balanced goal-shower, the Mexican could edge the Ticos to seal the third place.

Pacheco opened the score for Costa Rica, but immediately afterwards, Mexico turned the scored around and seemed to get the game under control with a 0-4 run that got them three goals ahead at the beginning of second leg.

Costa Rica were not to give up that early, and fought their way back to the game, with five goals that got them ahead once again (6-5). Jorge Rodríguez balanced things back, but Costa Rica madly wanted the bronze, as Brenes proved just two minutes afterwards. Time was running out for Ramon Raya’s side, when, with just 100 seconds to go, Cati netted the 7-7, with Villalobos to follow to seal the win for the Azteca.

The Bahamas National Beach Soccer team could not close this FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup – CPONCACAF qualifier they are hosting as sweetly as they would have liked to. The Bahamians came really close to the semifinals, only to fall one goal short of the records that would have got them in, and the penalty kick shootout denied them the fifth place in the competition today.

Guatemala proved better aimed from the 9-meter distance after a terribly thrilling and balanced game in which both sides netted six goals. After a goalless extra time, the Chapines would seal the victory thanks to Samaoya, who took perfect advantage of Jean’s sending his attempt wide.
