Barry Payne claimed the top qualification spot for the Nassau Darts Association (NDA) Gold Cup Trials this past weekend. Payne went undefeated on Saturday on his way to earning his spot onto the team. It was a very rigorous trial and NDA officials are pleased with the end result.

The Gold Cup is an event that brings together the best players from the Abaco Darts Association, Grand Bahama Darts Association and the NDA.

This year the Gold Cup will be held here in Nassau at The Corner Hotel, February 5th- 6th, 2009 when the NDA will be trying to secure their 15th consecutive title.

On Saturday, 33 of New Providence’s top male shooters vied for the nine available spots.   Friday night, the field was split up into three groups of 11 players who competed against each other in a round robin format at Club Waterloo, Gibson’s Bar and The Hideaway Pub.

The top five players from each venue then moved on to play against each other the following day to determine the top nine players for the team.

The Ladies will have their trials this upcoming weekend; when 12 of the best female dart players in New Providence will fight it out for the five available positions.   They would then join the nine men to complete the team.

After the very intense trial, the following men made it through to form this prestigious team:
