Almost all of the
games have been played, and finally, the teams set to participate in the
inaugural Popeyes Bahamas Bowl on December 24 will be revealed to the
public this Sunday, December 7.
The announcement
of the Popeyes Bahamas Bowl matchup will take place sometime after 3
p.m. ET, following the announcements of the College Football Playoff four-team
field (12:45 p.m. ET) and the CFP’s New Year’s Six bowls (no later than 3 p.m.
ET).
The bowl will
make the announcement via PopeyesBahamasBowl.com,
on Twitter at @TheBahamasBowl and on Facebook at Popeyes Bahamas Bowl.
The first two
teams to play a postseason NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) game outside of
either the United States or Canada since the 1937 Bacardi Bowl will come from a
pool that includes: Conference USA (C-USA) – Louisiana Tech (8-4),
Marshall (11-1), Middle Tennessee (6-6), Rice (7-5), UAB (6-6), UTEP (7-5) and
WKU (7-5). Mid-American Conference (MAC) – Bowling Green (7-5), Central
Michigan (7-5), Northern Illinois (10-2), Ohio (6-6), Toledo (8-4) and Western
Michigan (8-4).
Friday evening,
December 5, the Marathon MAC Championship Game will be played in
Detroit’s Ford Field between Bowling Green and Northern Illinois. Louisiana
Tech travels to Marshall in the Conference USA Championship Game on
Saturday afternoon, December 6.

The December 24
game at noon in the Thomas A. Robinson National Stadium will be televised
nationally on ESPN and carried on ESPN Radio.
The teams are
expected to arrive in Nassau on December 20 for a bowl week full of events at Atlantis
Bahamas, the official resort of the bowl, along with community relations
appearances in the Nassau area.
