As part of its corporate commitment to supporting the development of youth in The Bahamas, RUBiS Bahamas Ltd. was a proud sponsor of the inaugural Buddy Hield Summer Basketball Workshop, held 28-29 July 2017 at the Sir Kendall G. RUBiS Bahamas Ltd. has supported numerous initiatives aimed at positively impacting the community. We firmly believe that every good corporate citizen should seek to invest and develop the communities it operates in to ensure sustainability. Latia Duncombe, Sales & Marketing Manager, affirmed RUBiS’ global mandate and shared that “Rubis has agreed to a three-year partnership with the Buddy Hield Summer Basketball workshop, and it is hoped that in years to come it can extend to more islands in The Bahamas.”

RUBiS’ sponsorship has afforded children from the Ranfurly Home the once-in-a-lifetime experience to participate in the workshop and learn from the native NBA Superstar. Melissa Allen, sponsorship organizer for the Buddy Hield Summer Basketball Workshop, expressed heartfelt thanks to RUBiS Bahamas Ltd. not only for its sponsorship in this inaugural year, but also its long-term commitment to the effort. “We are extremely excited and appreciative to have RUBiS Bahamas Ltd. on board as a sponsor. They have already committed to a three-year partnership which highlights their belief in our vision. There is no price that can be placed on the effect this experience will have on the children involved, and we are glad to know that RUBiS sees the importance of Buddy’s efforts,” said Allen.

In addition to the children invited from the Ranfurly Home, RUBiS also extended an invitation to the children of its employees, as events like this will help all participants to realize that with hard work and perseverance they can accomplish great things, just like Buddy.

Speaking further on the company’s decision to support this event, Mrs. Duncombe said, “We are proud of Buddy and his achievements, as well as his desire to give back to the children of the Bahamas.  His hosting of the Summer Workshop is one of the ways that he continues to support the development of youth in The Bahamas.”
