Every hat tells a story. Every woman tells a story.

The Grand Bahama Heritage Foundation presents, "Beneath the Hat" opening in Nassau, at the Central Bank of the Bahamas on March 8th from 3 - 6pm.

This exhibit tells both an ongoing story of the many hats women wear—their myriad passions and lives—as well as being an exploration of the changing tides and times of Bahamian culture; a culture in which historical, religious, occupation, fashion, and practical day-to-day moments are celebrated through the metaphor of hats.

Beneath the Hat is a project by photographer Lyndah Wells, artist Chantal Bethel, and writer Laurie Tuchel.

Under the patronage Mrs. Bernadette Christie, wife of the Prime Minister of The Bahamas.  RSVP the curator, Antonius Roberts at 242-322-7678.

Featured in this exhibit are the following women from Grand Bahama: Lady Laurie Miller, Debbie Archer, Alisa Streather Robinson, Amanda Gold Adderley, the late Lucille Adderley who passed away January 2014, Sue Lynne McCrae, Rita Stuart, Erika Gates, Agatha Thompson, Ginger Moxey, Anthea Bullard, Beverly Chin, Maurisa Glinton, Piaget Moss.

From Nassau: Bernadette Christie, Marina D'Aguilar, Rubie M. Nottage, Cynthia Annette Carey.

The opening will include a panel of seven of the ladies who will share their life's passions. They are: Marina D'Aguilar, Rubie M. Nottage, Ginger Moxey, Maurisa Glinton, Piaget Moss, Apostle Rita Stuart and Erika Gates.

See the Facebook event page.

Exhibition runs throughout the month of March, 2014 in Nassau, then comes to Freeport, Grand Bahama in May 2014.
