Nassau, Bahamas - B.H. Publishers LLC, heralds the release of two exciting and wonderful books by well known Bahamian Motivational Speaker and Lecturer, Don L. Major.

Don Major’s latest feat of releasing two books at one time affirms the motivational principle that “we can accomplish that which we set our minds to”.

Don L.  Major is noted for his enthusiastic and power-packed seminars, lecturers, courses and workshops on small business/entrepreneurship, personal and business success, financial fitness and nonprofit/church/organizational growth, development and governance, over the last 20 years.

He is an experienced speaker/lecturer/motivator/  trainer, whose skills were developed and honed during 6 plus years as Assistant Professor of International Business & Strategic Management at Florida A & M University’s School of  Business & Industry;  2 years with The College Of The Bahamas’ School of Business and 25 plus years on the lecture circuit.  He credits his training in Toastmasters during the mid-70s and 25 plus years as an ordained elder and lay preacher in the Seventh-day Adventist Church with rounding out his skills;

He has an extensive educational background:   2 Bachelor Degrees (Business and English) from Oakwood University (class of ’72) in Alabama, MBA in Management & Marketing from Alabama A & M University (class of ’83),, read for the PhD at University of Miami, (finally attaining it on-line from WVCU after completing his dissertation) and completed numerous certificate programs in the USA, Jamaica, and Japan.

Professor Major is convinced he’s been ordained to preach “the gospel of financial freedom through entrepreneurship, in order to be a channel of God’s blessings”, and has dedicated himself to that cause.

Married to the lady Olga Patricia Major, a hotel manager, they have raised 3 teen-aged boys.  He has a son from a previous marriage.

He refuses to tolerate mediocrity or ignorance and lives by a Code of Conduct embodied in these seven (7) principles:

1.      Put God first
2.      Make family a priority
3.      Be the Best at whatever you do
4.      Do it right the first time
5.      A winner never quits
6.      If you fail to plan, you’re planning to fail
 7.     Live life so you need never make excuses or apologies.

“Local Currency”…A Book of Poems.
In articulating his views on his work (poetry in particular), Professor Major views himself as a “wordsmith”…an artist.

His passion has always been to use words, language, to capture images or concepts and create pictures, much like an artist creates a painting or a photographer creates his photo.

He believes that God has blessed him with the ability to use language…words…to create word pictures, imagery…and seeks to use this ability to share the treasures of God’s country (The Bahamas) with his people and the world.

As a socio-cultural historian, he has aimed to capture Bahamian society, culture and history and preserve it for his people, most especially the young.  He owes this perspective to the experience surrounding the birth of his son in 1987 and his early years of helping to nurture him.

Having spent many years living outside The Bahamas, he remains absolutely astounded about the beauty of our country, of our people, of our culture and history.  At the same time, he is dismayed by the lack of appreciation generally, and by our leaders specifically, for the treasure that is ours.  But he intends to do his bit, as a one-man army to change that.

“The Book of Prayers…” began as a private project, for his own personal benefit.

When requests came for him to share the individual prayers, he felt that he needed to “personalize” this contribution, as he does not consider himself to be an “expert” on prayers or an “expert” on God or an “expert” on theology.  It was not meant to be a primer or handbook.  He does not feel qualified to do that.  That he leaves for the preachers and theologians and biblical scholars.

What he does offer is his own personal journey…a very personal journey…the experiences that gave him conviction and confidence that “prayer is absolutely essential to daily life”, along with the absolute certainty, based on his own life’s journey, that God does answer prayers.

Generally a private person in spite of his public persona, he really had no intention of opening up his private life to the world, but felt compelled to do so in order to support his proposition about prayer:  why a man should pray, why any man should pray.

His latest and most far reaching project, he believes, is a direct answer to his prayer that God would put in his hand a proven business model that’s recession-proof.  [After every seminar/presentations, attendees continually sought his recommendations as to what business they should start.]   He is very passionate because he’s saving lives.  His  “FixYourHealth…FixYourFinances” business has been battling and beating the world’s SIX MAJOR EPIDEMICS for the last 20 plus years:  diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, obesity and low/broke bank accounts.  It’s a part of the “Make Life Better Movement.”
