Jazz vocalist Sandy Patton will perform in Grand Bahama on October 10th, 2012 at the Canal House, Pelican Bay Hotel. Tickets for non-members of GBPAS will be available at The Art of Giving, Seventeen Shop and at the door.

Freeport, Bahamas - Sandy Patton, jazz vocalist extraordinaire, will be performing from the Gershwin and Cole Porter songbooks in concert with a local trio at Canal House on Wednesday, October 10, 2012 at 7 p.m.   Sandy has performed all over the world with a long list of jazz greats, including Lionel Hampton, Dizzy Gillepsie, Paquito D’Riveria, Cab Calloway,  Clark Terry and many, many others.  She recently retired after 18 years as Jazz Vocal Professor in the Jazz Department of the distinguished Hochschule der Kunst in Bern, Switzerland.  Sandy will be joined onstage in Freeport by pianist Mark Carey, bassist Dr. Clarence Green, and drummer Patrick Russell.

Through Sandy’s friendship with our local performing powerhouse, Gloria McGlone, and Sandy’s own incredible generosity,  the Grand Bahama Performing Arts Society is able to offer this amazing concert FREE to its members and only $20 for non-members.  New memberships and renewals of existing memberships paid prior to the concert will be valid through December 2013. Memberships are available by emailing gbperform@gmail.com and at the door the night of the concert.   Tickets for non-members will be available at The Art of Giving, Seventeen Shop and at the door.

Benefits of membership in GBPAS include discounts at local restaurants and businesses, fabulous concerts and shows throughout the year and, most importantly, providing scholarships and support to young Bahamian students of the performing arts. This evening has been made possible through the generous support of all GBPAS Members and Sponsors, with special thanks to: Karen Clarke and John Gehr of Thayer’s Natural Remedies, Pelican Bay Hotel, TheBahamasWeekly.com, Keen i Media, Mackey Media, and of course, Sandy Patton who is donating her talent and time to the GBPAS.  Don’t miss this fantastic opportunity to become a member of GBPAS, support your local arts community and enjoy an exciting evening of great music.

The Grand Bahama Performing Arts Society was created to bring professional artists and performers from around the world to audiences in Grand Bahama. Drawing from Bahamian and international talent, a number of performances are planned throughout the year. Proceeds are used for the advancement of Grand Bahama students of the performing arts.
