Grand Bahama Island - It happened and it was great! 'Under the Harvest Moon'
originally planned for Saturday 3rd October, but moved by heavy rains
to Sunday 17th, was a beautiful production from the incredibly talented
duo: Ivy Elden and Gloria McGlone. These two inspirational thespians,
once again drew on our amazingly talented community who gave of their
very best and gave us the very best in song, dance and true
entertainment at our Labyrinth.
The show opened with a Poem, spoken in gentle tones by Ivy Elden,
and ended with the lovely Susan Jensen Sweeting encouraging the
audience to join her on the Labyrinth for a 'Moon Dance' which she sang in her crystal clear voice .
The circular Labyrinth stage was, for the first time, a
spectacular dance floor, all lit up by new Stage Lighting generously
provided, together with an upmarket sound system, by a very good friend
of the Garden, Jerry Hall. Thank you Jerry!
The show included some great dancing by the Lois Seiler's ballet
and tap dancing 'corps de dance'; some incredible Barber Shop and Sweet
Adeline Quartet and Quintets led by Gloria McGlone; and superb solos
including a special performance of 'Moon River' from our own Tony Lowe. Welcome back, Tony!
The music created by Paula LaPlant on her flute was magical as
strains of Claire de Lune and Swingin' Shepherd Blues resonated on the
night air. Also, completely magical was the ever beautiful voice of
our 'Nightingale of the Labyrinth', Dalia Feldman who enchanted us with
'Mond Nacht', beautifully accompanied by Lois Desaulniers.
Everyone, from our sound and lighting technicians to our ticket
sellers turned up trumps and worked together magnificently to provide a
night to remember for our community on our Labyrinth in the Heart of
Grand Bahama at the Garden of the Groves.
