Grand Hyatt Baha Mar and SLS Baha Mar hotels will serve as event site to BIFF screenings, film talks and other special programming

Nassau, Bahamas – The prestigious Bahamas International Film Festival (BIFF), now entering its 14th edition, will be held at Grand Hyatt Baha Mar and SLS Baha Mar hotels, the hottest new resort properties in The Bahamas. The announcement was made today by BIFF Founder and Executive Director, Leslie Vanderpool.

“Grand Hyatt Baha Mar and SLS Baha Mar are exceptional locations that have everything a major film festival needs - beautifully designed spaces, a wide variety of dining options and a dynamic ambiance. We’re so excited to call Baha Mar our home for BIFF 2017 and we know that the filmmakers, talent and all festival guests will share in this excitement. We deeply appreciate the generosity and professionalism exhibited by the Baha Mar teams,” said Vanderpool.

“Baha Mar is passionate about putting The Bahamas on the world stage by creating conversations around culture and creativity,” said Edwards. “BIFF is a wonderful opportunity to bring visitors and locals together for unique experiences at Grand Hyatt Baha Mar and SLS Baha Mar.”

Films will be screened at the 200,000 square foot Baha Mar Convention Center and SLS Baha Mar. In addition to the film screenings, SLS Baha Mar will host a special youth section in its ballroom. Star-studded events and award shows, multiple panel discussions with celebrities, filmmakers and movie industry leaders as well as other special festival events will be held at both Grand Hyatt Baha Mar and SLS Baha Mar event spaces.

“Our team at SLS Baha Mar is honored to be part of the Bahamas International Film Festival and excited to welcome all of the exceptional talent and attendees,” said Andrea Heffner, Director of Sales and Marketing at SLS Baha Mar. “This is a perfect partnership as the SLS Hotels brand is known for exciting entertainment, so we look forward to hosting a screening in our studio room as well as the final night’s reception at Bungalow Pool.”

The film festival will showcase more than 82 films from 28 countries, including 12 world premieres, four international premieres and 57 Caribbean premieres. All of the films will be Bahamian premieres.

BIFF 2017 takes place from December 10-13 in Harbour Island and December 14-17 in Nassau. The Festival’s opening night in Harbour Island will begin with a screening of Sean Baker’s critically acclaimed drama 'The Florida Project’ starring Willem Dafoe.
