Nassau, Bahamas - The Bahamas International Film Festival will enjoy the 84th annual Academy Awards via satellite on February 26th and you are invited!

Join BIFF at the British Colonial Hilton (downtown Nassau on Bay Street) for their first fundraiser of the year.

There will be prizes for best costume and closest predictions of winners.

Nassau, Bahamas - Competition winners at the 8th Bahamas International Film Festival (BIFF) were revealed on December 4th at the Atlantis Resort on Paradise Island. Winners were announced by their respective juries.

"On the Wings of Men" a film about the life and times of the
the first black premier of the Colony of the Bahama Islands, Sir Lynden Oscar Pindling came out on top receiving the Audience Award for Best Documentary.

Director Calvin Dwight Harris (USA/Bahamas) was on hand to receive the award for his film featuring interviews by many political figures from The Bahamas.


  The film opens to the public at the JFK Galleria on Friday, December 9th...

Nassau, Bahamas - Amos Ferguson, Match Me if You Can, a film by Karen Arthur and Thomas Neuwirth about the late Bahamian intuitive artist, Amos Ferguson has won the First Look Best Feature Award from the Bahamas International Film Festival which took place in Nassau from December 1 - 4th, 2011.

The documentary explores the life and work of the “Picasso of Bahamian Art,” from his meager beginnings in The Forest, Exuma, as one of seven surviving children who worked the family farm, to America as one of the original ‘contract’ workers picking fruit in the fields for American men away at War...

Nassau, Bahamas – December 4, 2011 – Competition winners at the 8th Bahamas International Film Festival (BIFF) were revealed tonight at a packed awards ceremony held at the Atlantis Resort on Paradise Island.

The competition categories at BIFF were Spirit of Freedom: Narrative; Documentary; New Visions: First Look; and Short Film. Special sections included Caribbean and Environmental sidebars as well as a World Cinema showcase.

Nassau, Bahamas - In what has turned out to be a phenomenal year for writer/director Storm Saulter, his debut feature film Better Mus Come not only secured its place as the only feature film representing Jamaica this year at the prestigious Bahamas International Film Festival, but ended up winning the BIFF Audience Award for best narrative film. The 1970's based political thriller “ Better MusCome” was one of only two feature films from the Caribbean in this year's BIFF roster.

Nassau, Bahamas - The eight edition of the Bahamas International Film Festival (BIFF) is set for December 1st to 4th, 2011 in Nassau. BIFF is very much looking forward to welcoming film industry professionals, emerging filmmakers and international visitors.

Along with many international films the festival boasts the showcasing of Bahamian films. This year BIFF will feature Bahamian films in the 'First Look' Award competition presented by the Royal Bank of Canada. First Look jurors are Julie Sultan of W2 Media; Kareem Mortimer, filmmaker; and Adam Reid, filmmaker.
