Nassau, Bahamas – The Big Screen Art Scene took place on June 21st to kick off the Bahamas International Film Festival's (BIFF) fifth year.

This year, BIFF donated part of the funds raised to the new D'Aguilar Art Foundation in honour of the late Vincent D'Aguilar, a much-loved supporter and collector of Bahamian art.

Some of the 2008 participants included Tyrone Ferguson, Antonius Roberts, Jackson Burnside, Stan Burnside, Margot Bethel, Nicole Collie, Claudette Dean, Holly Parotti, Bernard Petit, Livingstone Pratt, and Arjuna Watson. Sir Sean and Lady Connery and Lady Nutall donated art. There was an on-site store with additional works from participating artists, live model sketching and other entertainment.

Although the Bahamas International Film Festival wrapped in December 2007, many of the films, and their filmmakers go on to attend film festival after film festival throughout the world in order to continue the promotion of their film. The Bahamas Weekly brings you another exclusive interview from The Bahamas International Film Festival (BIFF) in December 2008. This time we present an insightful interview with director, David Giancola, the director of Anna Nicole's last film entitled, "Illegal Aliens", which was featured at BIFF '07.  

Here Giancola speaks about his friendship with Anna Nicole and her son, Daniel Wayne Smith; his experience working closely with both of them on set; and then speaks highly of The Bahamas as a backdrop for filmmaking; along with his comments on the Bahamas International Film Festival, that Anna Nicole Smith would have likely attended had she been alive.
