Nassau, Bahamas - Sir Orville Turnquest admits healthy living, exercise and charity are paramount standards Bahamians should live by, in Mario Newry’s latest tell-all, episodic journey into the Bahamian experience, airing this Tuesday on ZNS.
“A Familiar Walk”, hosted by Mr. Newry, has quickly become the quintessential compilation of stories that delve into the lives of Bahamian heroes and which chronicles important events in the history of this country.
“For some months, A Familiar Walk, has been compiling and recording events in Bahamian culture,” said Mario Newry, who is also the show’s Executive Producer. “This series is our most ambitious, varied and exciting programming yet.”
Each episode spotlights a different individual who has been instrumental in laying the foundations for the Commonwealth of the Bahamas today. Sir Orville’s story will treat viewers and listeners to untapped and untold Bahamian lore.
Mr. Newry said this programme is unmissable for anyone who has an interest in building a Better Bahamas. This part of the series will air on Z.N.S. T.V. 13 June 10th at 8:30 p.m.
In it, Sir Orville recounts his humble beginning in Grant’s Town and recalls his desire and attitude to succeed. He imparts on camera that: “History has always been an important part of everybody’s life and that is why I speak of Grant’s Town and the importance of this community in my life.”
During the programme Sir Orville’s admits his inspirations and offers a wealth of advice for healthy living, exercise and remembering the poor and disadvantaged among us.
“In the exclusive interview with the Former Governor General, the One Bahamas Segment is a dynamic passage which invokes the spirit of unity that is badly needed in our country today; this is my favorite part of the show,” Mr. Newry said.
This Documentary Project Series was conceived from a poem that Mario Newry wrote for his mother, the late Ruth Newry, entitled A Familiar Walk. He penned the poem on Mother’s Day May 13th, 1990. The programme was created to keep an enduring record of the people whose vision and dedication make a positive, tangible difference to the quality of life in the Bahamas; a dedication that his mother instilled in him and a tribute to her that will be long lasting.
