Anuschka Wright is home from Canada for the holidays and is performing around Nassau. She is seen here Heston Dean on keys and the great Ralph Munnings on alto sax.

NASSAU, The Bahamas - It has been two years since jazz artist, Anuschka Wright, has spent the Christmas Holidays in her native Bahama land. So it comes as no surprise that in addition to spending time with family and friends, to the pleasure of her fans, she is also performing at various venues throughout New Providence.

Always ready for an opportunity to sing, no sooner had she grabbed her bags at the airport she was welcomed to an impromptu performance. Fellow vocalist, and recording artist, Jonathan Farrington, was already serenading the crowd at arrivals at Lynden Pindling International Airport when the two spotted each other. Pure magic ensued as the two sang a spirited and exciting version of the Christmas classic "This Christmas", to the delight of all present. Later that evening at Malia, she also made another impromptu appearance, joining Jazz Etc’s Adrian D’Aguilar and his young protégés, "The Jazz Cats", singing a few Jazz classics with the talented group in the hotel's lobby.

So far, Anuschka has had the pleasure of performing at Sushi Rokkan at Old Fort Town Centre. The restaurant hosted the songstress on Christmas Eve as their featured artist; it was an inspiring night of music to say the least. In addition to Rokkan, Anuschka had the pleasure of sitting in for Naomi Taylor and her husband Clinton Crawford, better known as the Vice Versa band which is the house band of the Bullion Lounge at the British Colonial Hilton Hotel down town. Anuschka was accompanied by Heston Dean on keys and the great Ralph Munnings on alto sax. The evening seemed to have passed in a flash with patrons enjoying a good food and good music.

If you missed any of Anuschka’s performances so far, you can see her on New Year’s Eve (tonight) at Sushi Rokkan. Then on Tuesday Jan 6th she will be at the Hilton's Bullion, on Wednesday Jan 7th she is again at Sushi Rokkan , and then back to Bullion on Thursday Jan 8th.

After a busy and eventful yuletide season at back home, Anuschka will return to Concordia University in Montreal, to continue her studies in music and play with her new funk and soul band, The Mama Jamas.

More details on Anuschka’s activities in Montreal will be coming soon.
