Nassau, Bahamas - Five months ago The Bahamas National Festival Commission (BNFC) set out on a mission to inspire Bahamian musicians from across the Islands of The Bahamas to write new music and produce original songs for the first Bahamas Carnival. History was made, as over 170 original songs were submitted. Tonight, hosts, Fred Munnings Jr., BNFC Commissioner, and Leslie Tynes, Radio Personality, will announce the top 25 semi-finalists on ZNS, Cable 12 and JCN at 8pm.

These 25 artists will have their music professionally recorded and produced for the Bahamas Carnival Compilation CD. This is their opportunity to be promoted nationally and internationally.

Bahamas Carnival: The Intent:

• The conscience intent of the carnival is to stimulate economic growth in diverse sectors of our country, including the straw industry. Therefore, the costumes should include a significant percentage of indigenous materials.

Vision of The Bahamas National Festival Commission:

The Bahamas National Festival Commission (BNFC) was formed in October 2013 with a mandate from the Prime Minister of The Bahamas to:

1. Stimulate sustainable economic opportunities for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in the Creative Sector.

2. Bring to fruition a new Bahamian-style Carnival in May of 2015.

3. Stimulate year round employment in the Creative Sector.

4. Positively and significantly impact GDP.

On May 8th, 2015 the top 10 artists will perform on the Music Masters stage, where they will share the spotlight with a Grammy Award winning artist.

The Music Masters concert is a stage for top contemporary artists of the Bahamas to perform in competition in front of a global audience. This concert will ultimately determine who is crowned, Master of the Bahamian Sound.
