Nassau,
The Bahamas - In the midst of ‘artistes’ who rely on the calypso, soca, reggae
and rake ‘n’ scrape sounds of their region to secure them sports on local music
charts, Barz Noble of The Bahamas is standing out as a surprise leader in the
list of nominations for what has been described as the Caribbean version of the
Grammy or the Dove Awards.
Barz
Noble’s significance at this year’s Marlin Caribbean Music Awards comes from
the fact that he is nominated in six categories and that his is one of the few
artists from the hip hop genre who are up for awards. The success of his single
‘The Music of Life’ with its smooth lyrical flow reminiscent of what was
executed in early 1990’s, propelled his ‘Symphonic Signatures’ album to be an
unlikely, but credible contender at this year’s event.
‘Symphonic
Signatures’ is up for Album of The Year while Barz Noble himself is up for New
Artist of the Year. His single ‘Rockin’ It’ has the chance to take the award
for Hip Hop Recording of The Year, and Rock Recording of the Year. Barz
Noble is also nominated for Hip Hop Vocal Performance of the Year Duo/Group for
his Warfare Global collaboration while his single ‘Music of Life’ could walk
away with Hip Hop Vocal Performance of the Year.
“I feel both humbled and honoured for the six nominations
among such a great pool of talent and that the "Symphonic Signatures"
project was critiqued and chosen to be added to the list from my understanding
by a cross regional and both international panel of judges alike,” he stated. “The
Album of the Year category in particular is special. Even if I don't win, just
for the nomination nod and for being recognized for my work to be included in
such a select list is an accomplishment itself which I'm proud of from my very
first release as a solo artist.”
According
to Barz Noble, his inclusion in so many categories for his debut album is
something he feels will help take him to the next level of his craft.
“I think the award nomination and potential wins will shed
more light on the music to those who may not be familiar with
the Barz Noble sound,” he said. “It’s reminding me that it’s
about letting the music speak for itself. As an artist, it provides a greater
platform and exposure to a greater market beyond my homeland. I’m happy that I
am able to be recognized and prove that there is a place for cuss free,
positive, uplifting and inspirational Hip Hop music.”
The
Marlin Caribbean Music Awards takes place in Nassau, Bahamas, July 26, 2014.
