Freeport, Bahamas - The Grand Bahama Performing Arts Society (GBPAS) will present world renowned Canadian jazz pianist, composer and educator Steve Koven in concert at the Grand Bahama Sailing Club on Friday, April 17th at 7:30pm. Steve will also conduct a Master Class at the same venue on Saturday, April 18th at 10:30 a.m. This is Steve’s 3rd performance and Master Class in Grand Bahama and jazz fans are excited to welcome him back.

Aside from performing world-wide with his acclaimed Steve Koven Trio, Steve also performs solo piano concerts throughout North America, Europe and the Caribbean. Dozens of Steve’s compositions have been licensed for national and international film and television productions. As an educator, Steve has been member of the Faculty of Music at York University since 2003, teaching Contemporary Improvisation and Jazz Piano. In addition, Steve also teaches Music Entrepreneurship at Toronto's Centennial College. He holds a Masters in Music Composition and has presented master classes and clinics in China, Japan, Colombia, Barbados, Bahamas and Mexico.

If you want to enjoy some wonderful jazz, or you want to learn more about the craft, or both, this is a concert and Master Class you don’t want to miss! Tickets for the concert are $35 and are available at Seventeen and at the door. Tickets for the workshop are $10 or free if you produce a torn ticket from the concert. Come out and support the Grand Bahama Performing Arts Society, a non-profit organization which uses all of its proceeds to provide scholarships to performing art students on Grand Bahama (over $70,000 to date).

These events have been made possible through the generous support of all GBPAS members and sponsors, with special thanks to: TheBahamasWeekly.com, Keen i Media Ltd., and Mackey Media Ltd.

The Grand Bahama Performing Arts Society was created to bring professional artists and performers from around the world to audiences in Grand Bahama. Drawing from Bahamian and international talent, proceeds from events scheduled throughout the year are used for advancement of Grand Bahama students of the performing arts. Find us on Facebook
