NASSAU, Bahamas – Local female talent Chase Fernander released her single DEAR JOHN in February of this year. Chase joined forces with local super producer Padrino to create the mid-tempo rap ballad, and now under the direction of Gary Wong, the music video has been released.
Dear John is a no holds barred open letter to men, offering a unique social commentary on the challenges of women in the spotlight and women in general who are more often than not seen only as overly sexualized beings.
“This song is very personal” says Chase. "It’s about actual people, real people that I’d prefer not to name but it’s about the noise in the market place and people who’ve tried to use my music as a gateway to try and sleep with me”.
In addition to the stellar vocals which fans have come to know and love from Chase, the new single also showcases Chase’s ability as an emcee.
For years Chase has proven herself as a force to be reckoned with lyrically, even in the still male dominated forum of rap and hip hop. Dear John is the perfect marriage of all of her musical talents. The lyrics which are raw and unapologetic also feature a catchy and melodic hook and is sure to become the women’s empowerment anthem of 2015.
