Biography of Film Maker, Julian Ricardo Lord

From an early age Julian became interested in the arts. He spent a lot of his time drawing and painting pictures. His involvement in productions dates back to his high school days where he was an integral part of the annual spring production team. Gifted with the ability to ‘fix’ things, he repaired broken appliances around the home and later sought work as a technician and machinist. Born and raised in the Grant’s Town area of Nassau, Bahamas he was exposed to many cultural experiences and Julian became involved and very active in Junkanoo. This is where he began to learn the properties of colors, and how they responded to various lighting conditions and sources.

Julian soon discovered that he wanted to ‘paint’ using another medium - film, and began traveling to the United States to learn more about filmmaking. He attended seminars and workshops in Los Angeles, California and worked, most times without pay to gain knowledge of the industry. The experience also provided an opportunity for him to network with persons in the industry who shared the same passion. He developed his skills in the field of lighting and grip, and later moved into the areas of Cinematography and Directing.  He has worked on film productions from Los Angeles to Florida and also at home in the Bahamas.  Some of Featured Films include, After The Sunset, Eye of The Dolphin and Casino Royale.  He has worked with many notable producers and directors on documentaries, commercials and still photography including the Atlantis Resorts and the Ministry of Tourism’s promotion commercials. Vanity Fair the cast of Madmen, Nine West and Louis Vuitton photo shoots.

A husband and father, Julian graduated from Aquinas College, Nassau, Bahamas.  The owner of a film lighting and grip equipment rental company JL Filmworks, he spends his leisure time traveling and surfing the Internet. Julian’s motto by Chinese Philosopher Confucius, has proven true for him “Find a job you love and you will never work a day in your life”

Nicola, a unique culture singer/songwriter with no producer nor management. Born August 17th to a Bahamian mother and German father, she currently resides in Nassau, The Bahamas. At a tender young age she took it upon herself to experience life and ventured off to Germany on her own in an attempt to gain independence in a different and adverse world than that previously known to her…

Nicola has been using MySpace as a platform to build an international fan-base for her sweet and strong individual sound of reggae music. Record labels, DJ’s and selectors from radio stations and sound system companies worldwide have been clamouring to get hold of her songs, and fans are crying out for more releases. Nicola is a true survivor. As Bob Marley sang, her hand has been made strong by the Hand of the Almighty. She has had it hard and knows what it means to be a sufferer. Yet, despite events in her life that would crush most people or leave them bitter and cynical, Nicola has transformed these harsh experiences to lift up and reach out with love to those who suffer and struggle against the injustices of the world in which they find themselves and the systems of government that suffocate them.

Be careful, because the fire of love and passion that blazes in Nicola’s heart will burn you if you do not handle it with respect. Life has made Nicola shrewd and tough and she is quick to recognise users and abusers. She will call evil for what it is. It is not surprising then that she is called ‘Lionfish’ – beautiful to look at but deadly if you provoke her! The soaring spirituality and clarity of Nicola’s voice captivates everyone who hears her sing. You know that your spirit has been lifted as you are touched by the faith, hope and love that burns in Nicola’s heart and radiates strongly through her lyrics and music.

This is not just music. This is reality. Nicola and her music are poised on the edge of creating a completely new way in which to transform sounds and words into one rhythmic dynamic that will be appreciated by the world.
