Nassau, Bahamas - The Nassau Music Society, one of The Bahamas’ premier concert-organizing charities, is gearing up once again to give its third pair of exciting concerts for this Season.  On 15th and 16th January 2016 Bahamian audiences will be thoroughly entertained by Crispian Steele-Perkins whom Virtuoso Magazine has dubbed ‘ the world’s foremost exponent of the Baroque trumpet.’  He will be expertly accompanied by pianist, Leslie Pearson, one of Britain’s most distinguished keyboard players.

The concert promises not only entertainment but also an education as Crispian and Leslie interact with the audience during the concert.  These two musicians are world-renowned.  As a soloist, Steele-Perkins’ purity of tone and artistic subtlety have received widespread critical acclaim for more than four decades.  He has performed with some of the world’s greatest artists such as Kiri Te Kanawa, Led Zeppelin, Lulu and Cliff Richard.  In the world of film, Crispian’s playing can be heard on more than 80 classic scores such as Jaws, Gandhi, Star Wars (Episode IV), Batman, Lord of the Rings – The Two Towers and in no less than six James Bond films.

On the concert platform and in the studio, Leslie Pearson’s performances and compositions have entertained millions – most famously in the film “Four Weddings and a Funeral”, the TV series “Dr. Who”, “Poirot” and “Lovejoy”.  He regularly played at Buckingham Palace for the late Queen Mother and HRH Prince Charles at whose recent wedding he also participated.  Leslie was the official keyboard player for the Philharmonia Orchestra for 40 years. He has also received critical acclaim for his role in numerous classical recordings.

Both artists have regularly played at some of the world’s most famous concert venues. Certainly this event is a must-see for all professional and student musicians as well as for music lovers generally.  What’s more the artists have generously agreed to give a masterclass to Bahamian students!

The Nassau Music Society is proud to present this concert entitled, “The Trumpet Shall Sound!” under the patronage of Her Excellency Dame Marguerite Pindling, Governor General of The Bahamas.  The Society is also proud to continue its promotion and encouragement of the art of music by giving scholarships to promising music students and by organizing concerts and masterclasses to deliver a high standard of entertainment and education.

The concert on Friday 15th January 2016 will be held at Government House starting 7:30 pm.  On Saturday 16th January 2016 the concert will take place at St. Paul’s Church Hall, Lyford Cay starting 7:30 pm.

Tickets may be purchased at the door or in advance from Logos Bookstore (Harbour Bay Shopping Centre), Custom Computers (Cable Beach) or Buy-The-Book (Saunders Beach) at the price of $30 for Society Members, $35 for the general public and $10 for students.
