Bahamian Independence celebrations are just around the corner and it's always refreshing to have a new song to bring in another year of Bahamian culture. Move over Ronnie Butler, KB, Phil Stubbs, Gino D, and other Bahamian greats, because there's a new kid on the block!  The Bahamas Weekly is pleased to introduce to you the fresh new sound of Rumah and his first Official single, "Party in Da 242 (Beautiful Night)" released under Paragonic Entertainment LLC.

"The track was inspired by our love for our Bahamian culture," said executive producer K. Levar Smith.  "It was also a challenge for us, as we've never produced a Junkanoo record before, and since we love challenges, we took on the task to create a sound from our Junkanoo roots, but gave it a more international ambiance."  The lyrics for "Party in Da 242 (Beautiful Night)" are embellished with current Bahamian vernacular while telling a simple yet true story most Bahamians can relate to.  "Our inspiration was to create a 'party record' for Bahamians, particularly for our festivals such as Regattas, Independence Day celebrations, Junkanoo, and for any of our parties," said Smith.

With all the makings of becoming a Bahamian classic, the single features the vocal talents of 20 year old Rumah of Freeport, Grand Bahama who won two consecutive Best Pop / R&B Male Vocalist awards at the Bahamas National Arts Festival in 2008 and 2009. His father, recording artist Pastor Rudolph Roberts recorded five gospel albums. Other than his father, Rumah says his earliest influences are Brian McKnight, Babyface, and Maxwell who helped shaped his own soulful yet contemporary style.
Rumah is in the process of completing his debut album "Spread the Rumah" that will be filled with different genres of music, however his main sound is R&B.
