NEWS ITEM ON TROPICAL STORM PAULETTE ISSUED BY THE BAHAMAS DEPARTMENT OF METEOROLOGY FORECAST OFFICE SECTION, AT 12 PM TUESDAY 08TH, SEPTEMBER 2020.

...PAULETTE CONTINUES TO GAIN STRENGTH OVER CENTRAL TROPICAL ATLANTIC...

AT 11:00 AM EDT, THE CENTER OF TROPICAL STORM PAULETTE WAS LOCATED NEAR LATITUDE 18.4° NORTH AND LONGITUDE 43.3° WEST OR ABOUT 1285 MILES WEST OF THE CABO VERDE ISLANDS OR ABOUT 1295 MILES EAST OF THE NORTHERN LEEWARD ISLANDS. 

PAULETTE IS MOVING TOWARD THE NORTHWEST NEAR 6 MILES PER HOUR. A TURN TOWARD THE WEST-NORTHWEST OR WEST WITH A SLIGHT INCREASE IN FORWARD SPEED IS EXPECTED DURING THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS.

MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS ARE NEAR 65 MILES PER HOUR WITH HIGHER GUSTS.  MODERATE ADDITIONAL STRENGTHENING IS POSSIBLE TODAY AND PAULETTE COULD BE NEAR HURRICANE STRENGTH BY TONIGHT. GRADUAL WEAKENING IS EXPECTED BY LATE WEDNESDAY.
