NEWS ITEM ON HURRICANE JERRY ISSUED BY THE BAHAMAS DEPARTMENT OF METEOROLOGY FORECAST OFFICE SECTION, AT 6:00 AM FRIDAY 20TH SEPTEMBER 2019

…JERRY EXPECTED TO PASS TO THE NORTH OF THE LEEWARD ISLANDS LATER TODAY …

AT 5:00 AM AST, THE CENTER OF HURRICANE JERRY WAS LOCATED NEAR LATITUDE 18.4°NORTH AND LONGITUDE 58.7° WEST OR ABOUT 290 MILES EAST OF THE NORTHERN LEEWARD ISLANDS.

JERRY IS MOVING TOWARD THE WEST-NORTHWEST AT 16 MILES PER HOUR.  ON THIS FORECASTED TRACK THE CENTER OF JERRY WILL PASS WELL TO EAST-NORTHEAST OF THE SOUTHEASTERN BAHAMAS ON SUNDAY.

MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS ARE NEAR 105 MILES PER HOUR WITH HIGHER GUSTS.  A GRADUAL WEAKENING TREND IS FORECAST TO BEGIN LATER TODAY. JERRY IS EXPECTED TO REMAIN A HURRICANE FOR THE NEXT FEW DAYS.
