NEWS ITEM ON TROPICAL DEPRESSION CRISTOBAL ISSUED BY THE BAHAMAS DEPARTMENT OF METEOROLOGY FORECAST OFFICE SECTION, AT 6 AM FRIDAY 05TH JUNE 2020.

...CRISTOBAL CONTINUES TO BRING HEAVY RAINS AND FLOODING TO MEXICO AND CENTRAL AMERICA...

AT 5 AM EDT, THE CENTER OF TROPICAL DEPRESSION CRISTOBAL WAS LOCATED NEAR LATITUDE 18.8° NORTH AND LONGITUDE 90.1 ° WEST OR ABOUT 80 MILES SOUTH-SOUTHEAST OF CAMPECHE, MEXICO.

TROPICAL DEPRESSION CRISTOBAL IS MOVING TOWARD THE NORTH-NORTHEAST AT 7 MILES PER HOUR. ON THE FORECAST TRACK, THE CENTER WILL MOVE OVER THE YUCATAN PENINSULA THROUGH THE DAY TODAY, OVER THE SOUTHERN GULF OF MEXICO BY TONIGHT, THE CENTRAL GULF OF MEXICO ON SATURDAY AND APPROACH THE NORTHERN GULF OF MEXICO COAST SUNDAY AND SUNDAY NIGHT.
MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS ARE NEAR 35 MILES PER HOUR WITH HIGHER GUSTS.  LITTLE CHANGE IN STRENGTH IS EXPECTED WHILE THE DEPRESSION IS LOCATED OVER LAND. GRADUAL STRENGTHENING IS FORECAST TO BEGIN ONCE THE SYSTEM MOVES OVER THE SOUTHERN GULF OF MEXICO.

THIS SYSTEM CONTINUES TO POSE NO THREAT TO THE BAHAMAS.
