 General Situation: A weak high pressure ridge continues to provide mostly pleasant weather conditions over the Bahamas as a weak cold front enters the NW Bahamas by late Thursday to early Friday. The front will usher in dryer air and gradually dissipate across the NW Bahamas by late Friday or early Saturday. A weak high pressure ridge will remain over the area through the weekend as another stronger cold front moves into the NW Bahamas late Monday into early Tuesday. By Wednesday, cooler and drier conditions will prevail across the Bahamas as front exits east and south of the area.
Thursday 28th – Partly to mostly sunny and very warm at first across the NW Bahamas but increasing clouds with some passing showers late, turning partly cloudy to fair and mild at night. Elsewhere in the Central and SE Bahamas, becoming partly to mostly sunny and very warm with the chance of passing showers early, turning partly cloudy to fair and warm at night. Maximum temperature 87°F and minimum temperature 66°F. Small craft should exercise caution over parts of the Central and SE Bahamas and caution across the NW Bahamas late. Winds N’ly at 10 to 15 knots in the NW Bahamas, increasing to 15 to 20 knots later and NE to E backing to N to NE at 15 to 20 knots in the Central and SE Bahamas. Seas 2 to 4 feet over the NW Bahamas, falling to 1 to 3 feet later and 4 to 6 feet in the Central and SE Bahamas.
Friday 29th – Partly to mostly sunny, breezy and very warm in the NW Bahamas during the daytime, turning partly cloudy to cloudy and mild at night. Partly cloudy to cloudy, breezy and very warm across the Central and SE Bahamas with the chance of passing showers through nightfall. Maximum temperature 84°F and minimum temperature 68°F. Small craft should continue to exercise caution over the entire Bahamas. Winds N to NE at 15 to 20 knots across the entire Bahamas. Seas 4 to 6 feet over the entire Bahamas.
Saturday 30th – Partly cloudy to cloudy, a bit breezy and warm with the chance of few passing showers likely during the daytime through nightfall. Maximum temperature 82°F and minimum temperature 70°F. Small craft should exercise caution across the entire Bahamas early and caution across the Central and SE Bahamas through nightfall. Winds NE’ly at 15 to 20 knots across the entire Bahamas early, but decreasing to 10 to 15 knots across the NW Bahamas later. Seas 4 to 6 feet over the entire Bahamas, falling to 2 to 4 feet in the NW Bahamas later. Moderate N’ly to NE’ly ocean swells up to 8 feet over open Atlantic waters. Moderate N’ly to NE’ly swells up to 8 feet over open Atlantic waters during the period.
Sunday 01st – Partly cloudy to cloudy, a bit breezy at times and very warm with a few passing showers likely during the daytime, turning partly cloudy to fair and mild at night with a slight chance of a passing shower. Maximum temperature 84°F and minimum temperature 71°F. Small craft should exercise caution across the Central and SE Bahamas early. Winds NE to E at 10 to 15 knots in the NW Bahamas, switching S’ly at 10 knots or less later and NE to E at 15 to 20 knots in the Central and SE Bahamas early, decreasing to 10 to 15 knots later, but gusty at times. Seas 2 to 4 feet in the NW Bahamas, falling to 1 to 3 feet at times later and 4 to 6 feet in the Central and SE Bahamas, falling to 2 to 4 feet later, but higher in gusts. Moderate NE’ly ocean swells up to 9 feet over open Atlantic waters during the period.
Monday 02nd – Partly sunny, windy and very warm with the chance of few passing showers across the NW Bahamas during the daytime, turning partly cloudy to fair skies and mild at night except for periods of clouds and scattered showers across the NW Bahamas. Maximum temperature 85°F and a minimum temperature 70°F. Winds SW to W at 15 to 20 knots early, but switching NW’ly at 20 to 25 knots in the NW Bahamas later and variable at 10 knots or less in the Central and SE Bahamas, but increasing to 15 to 25 knots in the Central Bahamas later. Seas 4 to 6 feet over the ocean in the NW Bahamas, but building to 6 to 9 feet later and 1 to 3 feet in the Central and SE Bahamas, building to 4 to 7 feet in the Central Bahamas later. Diminishing moderate NE’ly ocean swells up to 8 feet over Atlantic waters during the period.
Tuesday 03rd – Partly cloudy, windy and mild across the NW and Central Bahamas with the chance of few passing showers, but partly cloudy, breezy and warm in the SE Bahamas during the daytime. Partly cloudy to fair skies and cold at night across the entire Bahamas. Maximum temperature 75°F and a minimum temperature 63°F. Small craft advisory across the NW and Central Bahamas early, but caution across all areas later. Winds NW’ly at 15 to 25 knots across the NW and Central Bahamas, decreasing to 15 to 20 knots later and W’ly at 10 to 15 knots in the SE Bahamas, switching to W to NW at 15 to 20 knots later. Seas 5 to 8 feet in the NW and Central Bahamas, falling to 4 to 7 feet later and 2 to 4 feet in the SE Bahamas, building to 4 to 7 feet later. Moderate NE’ly swells up to 9 feet over open Atlantic waters diminishing through the period.
Wednesday 04th – Mostly sunny and warm across the entire Bahamas during the daytime, becoming breezy across the NW Bahamas later. Partly cloudy, breezy and cool across the NW Bahamas at night, but partly cloudy to fair and mild elsewhere. Maximum temperature 79°F and minimum temperature 64°F. Small craft should exercise caution in the NW Bahamas. Winds W’ly at 10 knots or less in the NW Bahamas with stronger gusts, but increasing to 15 to 20 knots late and W’ly at 10 knots or less in the Central and SE Bahamas, increasing to 10 to 15 knots later. Seas 2 to 4 feet but slightly higher in gusts in the NW Bahamas, building to 4 to 6 feet late and 1to 3 feet in the Central and SE Bahamas, building to 2 to 4 feet later. Moderate to light NW’ly to N’ly swells up to 7 feet over open Atlantic waters.
Beachgoers and mariners should be vigilant for rough surf and the moderate to high risk of dangerous rip currents mainly along the north and east coast beaches during the stated advisories. Mariners should exercise caution for gusty winds and higher seas during heavy showers or strong to severe thunderstorms. Mariners should also be alert for waterspout activity during the daytime through nightfall across all areas. Localized flooding during heavy downpours across low lying and flood prone areas is expected.
