BAHAMAS PUBLIC FORECAST

THIS IS THE BAHAMAS PUBLIC FORECAST ISSUED BY THE BAHAMAS DEPARTMENT OF METEOROLOGY FOR THIS AFTERNOON AND TONIGHT MONDAY 2ND DECEMBER 2019 AT 12:00 PM.     

GENERAL SITUATION: A COLD FRONT WILL CONTINUE TO MOVE THROUGH THE NORTHWEST BAHAMAS THIS AFTERNOON FOLLOWED BY BUILDING HIGH PRESSURE RIDGE OVER THE AREA.

SPECIAL WARNINGS: BEACHGOERS AND MARINERS SHOULD EXERCISE EXTREME CAUTION DUE TO ROUGH SURF AND DANGEROUS RIP CURRENTS ACROSS MOST NORTH AND EAST COAST BEACHES.

NORTHWEST BAHAMAS

WEATHER: PARTLY SUNNY, BREEZY AND WARM WITH FEW PASSING SHOWERS OR A POSSIBLE ISOLATED THUNDERSTORM MAINLY IN VICINITY OF THE FRONT. MAINLY FAIR AND MILD TONIGHT EXCEPT IN VICINITY OF THE FRONT.

ADVISORY: SMALL CRAFT ADVISORY ACROSS THE NORTHWEST BAHAMAS BECOMES A CAUTION BY TONIGHT.

WINDS: SOUTHWEST TO WEST AT 15 TO 25 KNOTS AHEAD OF THE FRONT BUT SWITCHING TO WEST TO NORTHWEST AT 15 TO 25 KNOTS BEHIND THE FRONT. DECREASING TO 15 TO 20 KNOTS LATE.

SEAS: 5 TO 8 FEET OVER THE OCEAN IN LIGHT TO MODERATE NORTHEASTERLY SWELLS.

CENTRAL AND SOUTHEAST BAHAMAS

WEATHER: PARTLY SUNNY AND WARM TODAY WITH THE CHANCE OF FEW PASSING SHOWERS IN ACROSS THE CENTRAL BAHAMAS. PARTLY CLOUDY TO FAIR SKIES AND WARM AT NIGHT WITH THE CHANCE OF FEW PASSING SHOWERS MAINLY ACROSS THE CENTRAL BAHAMAS.

ADVISORY: SMALL CRAFT SHOULD CONTINUE TO EXERCISE CAUTION IN DIMINISHING SWELLS

WINDS: SOUTHWEST TO WEST AT 10 TO 15 KNOTS OVERALL AREAS BUT INCREASING TO 12 TO 18 KNOTS ACROSS THE CENTRAL BAHAMAS LATE.

SEAS: 2 TO 4 FEET OVER THE OCEAN BUT UP TO 7 FEET IN NORTHEASTERLY SWELLS AND BUILDING TO 3 TO 5 FEET IN THE CENTRAL BAHAMAS WITH LIGHT NORTHEASTERLY SWELLS.
