THIS IS THE BAHAMAS PUBLIC FORECAST FOR THIS AFTERNOON AND TONIGHT TUESDAY 15TH SEPTEMBER 2020 ISSUED BY THE BAHAMAS DEPARTMENT OF METEOROLOGY AT 12 PM.

GENERAL SITUATION: A WEAK RIDGE OF HIGH PRESSURE ACROSS THE BAHAMAS WILL DOMINATE THE WEATHER PATTERN TODAY.
 
SPECIAL WARNINGS: BOATERS SHOULD EXERCISE CAUTION DUE TO MODERATE NORTHEASTERLY SWELLS EMANATING FROM TROPICAL STORM PAULETTE AND BEACHGOERS SHOULD REMAIN VIGILANT DUE TO THE RISK OF RIP CURRENTS ALONG EAST COAST BEACHES.

WEATHER: PARTLY SUNNY AND WARM TODAY WITH A FEW ISOLATED SHOWERS POSSIBLE. MAINLY FAIR TONIGHT WITH A STRAY SHOWER OR TWO POSSIBLE.

ADVISORY: A SMALL CRAFT CAUTION IS IN EFFECT DUE TO MODERATE NORTHEASTERLY SWELLS.

WINDS: EAST TO SOUTHEAST AT 10 TO 15 KNOTS. FALLING LIGHT AND VARIABLE AT TIMES.

SEAS: 2 TO 5 FEET NEAR SHORE AND UP TO 6 FEET OFFSHORE IN MODERATE NORTHEASTERLY SWELLS.

WEATHER OUTLOOK: HIGH PRESSURE WILL CONTINUE TO PERSIST ACROSS THE ISLANDS MAINTAINING PLEASANT WEATHER.

TROPICAL WEATHER OUTLOOK: SEE NEWS ITEMS ON HURRICANE PAULETTE AND SALLY AND TROPICAL STORMS TEDDY AND VICKY. ELSEWHERE THE NATIONAL HURRICANE CENTER CONTINUES TO MONITOR THREE OTHER AREAS.  (1) A BROAD AREA OF LOW PRESSURE MEANDERING OVER THE SOUTHWESTERN GULF OF MEXICO WITH A 20 PERCENT CHANCE FOR FORMATION DURING THE NEXT FIVE DAYS. (2) A NON TROPICAL LOW IN THE FAR NORTHEASTERN ATLANTIC OCEAN SEVERAL HUNDRED MILES NORTHEAST OF THE AZORES WITH A 20 PERCENT CHANCE FOR FORMATION DURING THE NEXT FIVE DAYS AND. (3) AN AREA OF LOW PRESSURE A FEW HUNDRED MILES SOUTH-SOUTHEAST OF THE CABO VERDE ISLANDS WITH A 70 PERCENT CHANCE FOR FORMATION DURING THE NEXT FIVE DAYS. ELSEWHERE TROPICAL CYCLONE FORMATION IS NOT EXPECTED DURING THE NEXT FIVE DAYS.
