BAHAMAS PUBLIC FORECAST

THIS IS THE BAHAMAS PUBLIC FORECAST FOR TONIGHT AND TOMORROW MONDAY 30THDECEMBER 2019 ISSUED BY THE BAHAMAS DEPARTMENT OF METEOROLOGY AT 6 PM.

GENERAL SITUATION: A RIDGE OF HIGH PRESSURE WILL CONTINUE TO SHIFT EASTWARDS AS PREFRONTAL ACTIVITY AHEAD OF A COLD FRONT NORTH OF THE AREA MOVES OVER THE NORTHWEST BAHAMAS THROUGH TUESDAY.

SPECIAL WARNINGS: BEACHGOERS IN THE SOUTHEAST BAHAMAS SHOULD CONTINUE TO EXERCISE CAUTION DUE TO THE RISK OF RIP CURRENTS ALONG EAST COAST BEACHES.

NORTHWEST BAHAMAS

WEATHER:  PARTLY CLOUDY TO CLOUDY AND WARM WITH HEAVY ISOLATED SHOWERS AND POSSIBLE THUNDERSTORMS OVER THE EXTREME NORTHWEST BAHAMAS TONIGHT, BECOMING CLOUDY TO MOSTLY CLOUDY AND HUMID WITH WIDELY SCATTERED SHOWERS ON TUESDAY.

ADVISORY: EXPECT GUSTY WINDS AND HIGHER SEAS IN OR NEAR HEAVY SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS.

WINDS: SOUTHEAST TO SOUTH AT 10 TO 15 KNOTS TONIGHT, SHIFTING THROUGH THE PERIOD, BECOMING NORTHWEST TO NORTH AT 10 TO 15 KNOTS OVER THE EXTREME NORTHWEST BAHAMAS, AND SOUTH TO SOUTHWEST AT 10 TO 15 KNOTS OVER THE REMAINING ISLANDS ON TUESDAY.

SEAS: 2 TO 4 FEET OVER THE OCEAN.

CENTRAL AND SOUTHEAST BAHAMAS

WEATHER: FAIR TO PARTLY CLOUDY AND A BIT BREEZY TONIGHT, BECOMING SUNNY TO PARTLY SUNNY AND WARM WITH A STRAY SHOWER OR TWO POSSIBLE ON TUESDAY.

ADVISORY: A SMALL CRAFT CAUTION IS IN EFFECT FOR THE SOUTHEAST BAHAMAS.

WINDS: SOUTHEASTERLY AT 10 TO 15 KNOTS IN THE CENTRAL BAHAMAS, AND EASTERLY AT 15 TO 20 KNOTS IN THE SOUTHEAST BAHAMAS TONIGHT. BECOMING EAST TO SOUTHEAST AT 10 TO 15 KNOTS ON TUESDAY.
