NEWS ITEM ON TROPICAL STORM BARRY ISSUED BY THE BAHAMAS DEPARTMENT OF METEOROLOGY FORECAST OFFICE SECTION, AT 12 NOON SUNDAY, 14TH JULY 2019.

… BARRY MOVING NORTHWARD OVER THE NORTHWESTERN LOUISIANA…

…LIFE-THREATENING FLOODING RAINS TO CONTINUE …..…

AT 12 NOON EDT, TROPICAL STORM BARRY WAS LOCATED NEAR LATITUDE 31.8°NORTH AND LONGITUDE 93.4° OR ABOUT 50 MILES SOUTH-SOUTHEAST OF SHREVEPORT LOUISANA.

BARRY IS MOVING TOWARD THE NORTH NEAR 9 MILES PER HOUR AND THIS GENERAL MOTION IS EXPECTED TO CONTINUE THROUGHOUT THE DAY. ON THE FORECAST TRACK THE CENTER OF BARRY WILL MOVE ACROSS THE WESTERN AND NORTHERN PORTION OF LOUISIANA TODAY, AND OVER ARKANSAS TONIGHT AND MONDAY.

MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS HAVE DECREASED TO 40 MILES PER HOUR WITH HIGHER GUSTS.  WEAKENING IS EXPECTED AS THE CENTER MOVES FARTHER INLAND, AND BARRY IS FORECAST TO WEAKEN TO A TROPICAL DEPRESSION LATER TODAY.

THIS SYSTEM POSES NO THREAT TO THE BAHAMAS.
