NEWS ITEM ON TROPICAL STORM FLORENCE ISSUED BY THE BAHAMAS DEPARTMENT OF METEOROLOGY FORECAST OFFICE SECTION, AT 12PM SATURDAY 01ST SEPTEMBER 2018.

…FLORENCE HEADING TOWARD THE OPEN EASTERN ATLANTIC…

AT 11:00AM EDT, THE CENTER OF TROPICAL STORM FLORENCE WAS LOCATED NEAR LATITUDE 14.8°NORTH AND LONGITUDE 27.8° WEST OR ABOUT 225 MILES WEST OF THE SOUTHERNMOST CABO VERDE ISLANDS.

FLORENCE IS MOVING TOWARD THE WEST-NORTHWEST AT 14 MPH, AND THIS GENERAL MOTION IS EXPECTED TO CONTINUE THROUGH TUESDAY.  ON THE FORECAST TRACK, FLORENCE WILL CONTINUE TO MOVE TOWARD THE OPEN EASTERN ATLANTIC.

MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS HAVE INCREASED TO NEAR 45 MILES PER HOUR (MPH) WITH HIGHER GUSTS. SOME STRENGTHENING IS FORECAST DURING THE NEXT 48 HOURS.
