NEWS ITEM ON HURRICANE PAULETTE ISSUED BY THE BAHAMAS DEPARTMENT OF METEOROLOGY FORECAST OFFICE SECTION, AT 12:00 PM TUESDAY 15TH, SEPTEMBER 2020

...PAULETTE HEADING NORTHEASTWARD AT AN EVEN FASTER PACE...

AT 11:00 AM EDT, THE CENTER OF HURRICANE PAULETTE WAS LOCATED NEAR LATITUDE 38.3° NORTH AND LONGITUDE 57.9° WEST OR ABOUT 570 MILES NORTHEAST OF BERMUDA.  PAULETTE IS MOVING TOWARD THE NORTHEAST NEAR 29 MILES PER HOUR. A FASTER MOTION TOWARD THE EAST-NORTHEAST IS EXPECTED THROUGH THURSDAY. AFTERWARD PAULETTE IS FORECAST TO SLOW DOWN AND TURN TOWARD THE EAST-SOUTHEAST AND SOUTH-SOUTHEAST LATE THURSDAY AND FRIDAY. 

MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS ARE NEAR 105 MILES PER HOUR WITH HIGHER GUSTS. SOME STRENGTHENING IS POSSIBLE THROUGH TONIGHT BUT RAPID WEAKENING IS FORECAST TO BEGIN ON WEDNESDAY AS THE CYCLONE UNDERGOES EXTRATROPICAL TRANSITION. PAULETTE SHOULD COMPLETE ITS TRANSITION TO AN EXTRATROPICAL CYCLONE ON THURSDAY.

THIS IS A NEWS ITEM ON HURRICANE SALLY ISSUED BY THE BAHAMAS DEPARTMENT OF METEOROLOGY FORECAST OFFICE SECTION, AT 12PM TUESDAY 15TH, SEPTEMBER 2020

...SALLY CRAWLING NORTHWESTWARDS TOWARD THE NORTHERN GULF COAST... 

AT 11:00 AM EDT, THE CENTER OF HURRICANE SALLY WAS LOCATED NEAR LATITUDE 29.1° NORTH AND LONGITUDE 88.2° WEST OR ABOUT 55 MILES EAST OF THE MOUTH OF THE MISSISSIPPI RIVER. 

SALLY IS MOVING TOWARD THE NORTHWEST NEAR 2 MILES PER HOUR. A SLOW NORTH-NORTHWESTWARD TO NORTHWARD MOTION IS EXPECTED THIS AFTERNOON FOLLOWED BY A SLOW NORTHWARD TO NORTH-NORTHEASTWARD MOTION TONIGHT THROUGH WEDNESDAY NIGHT. 

MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS ARE NEAR 85 MILES PER HOUR WITH HIGHER GUSTS. ALTHOUGH LITTLE CHANGE IN STRENGTH IS FORECAST UNTIL LANDFALL OCCURS SALLY IS STILL EXPECTED TO BE A DANGEROUS HURRICANE WHEN IT MOVES ONSHORE ALONG THE NORTH-CENTRAL GULF COAST.

THIS IS A NEWS ITEM ON TROPICAL STORM VICKY ISSUED BY THE BAHAMAS DEPARTMENT OF METEOROLOGY FORECAST OFFICE AT 12PM, TUESDAY, 15TH SEPTEMBER, 2020.

…VICKY HOLDING STEADY AS A TROPICAL STORM…
WEAKENING EXPECTED LATER TONIGHT…

AT 11:00 AM EDT, THE CENTER OF TROPICAL STORM VICKY WAS LOCATED NEAR LATITUDE 20.6° NORTH AND LONGITUDE 31.0° WEST OR 560 MILES NORTHWEST OF THE CABO VERDE ISLANDS.  VICKY IS MOVING TOWARD THE WEST-NORTHWEST NEAR 9 MILES PER HOUR AND A TURN TOWARD THE WEST-NORTHWEST IS EXPECTED ON WEDNESDAY FOLLOWED BY A TURN TOWARD THE WEST ON THURSDAY. 

MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS ARE NEAR 50 MILES PER HOUR WITH HIGHER GUSTS. WEAKENING IS FORECAST DUE TO STRONG UPPER LEVEL WINDS DURING THE NEXT 48 HOURS AND VICKY IS LIKELY TO DEGENERATE INTO A REMNANT LOW BY WEDNESDAY NIGHT. THE NEXT NEWS ITEM WILL BE ISSUED AT 6PM.

…TEDDY WILL LIKELY BECOME A HURRICANE LATER TODAY OR EARLY WEDNESDAY…

AT 11:00 AM EDT, THE CENTER OF TROPICAL STORM TEDDY WAS LOCATED NEAR LATITUDE 14.0° NORTH AND LONGITUDE 47.0° WEST OR 960 MILES EAST OR THE LESSER ANTILLES.  TEDDY IS MOVING TOWARD THE WEST-NORTHWEST NEAR 13 MILES PER HOUR. 

A STEADY NORTHWEST MOTION AT 10 TO 15 MILES PER HOUR IS EXPECTED THROUGH THE END OF THE WEEK. 

MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS HAVE INCREASED TO NEAR 65 MILES PER HOUR WITH HIGHER GUSTS. ADDITIONAL STRENGTHENING IS FORECAST FOR THE NEXT SEVERAL DAYS. TEDDY WILL LIKELY BECOME A HURRICANE LATER TODAY OR TONIGHT AND COULD REACH MAJOR HURRICANE STRENGTH IN A FEW DAYS.
