The new Ambassador of El Salvador to the Organization of American States (OAS), Lorena Sol De Pool, today presented her credentials to Secretary General Luis Almagro, in a ceremony that took place in the headquarters of the hemispheric institution.

Ambassador Sol De Pool said strengthening the relationship of her country with the OAS and the Inter-American System is a priority. “We share the vision of the Secretary General and we will work together with the member states for a hemisphere of peace, democracy and development,” said the Salvadoran diplomat.

For his part, the OAS Secretary General highlighted the agreement reached by the Organization with the Government of El Salvador to address corruption. ““The frontal assault on corruption is one of the biggest priorities of my administration and I have found a very valuable ally in President Nayib Bukele and his government. We share a common purpose: zero tolerance for corruption,” said Secretary General Almagro.

The OAS General Secretariat and the government of President Bukele agreed in September 2019 to create the International Commission against Impunity in El Salvador (CICIES), as a tool to fight to eliminate corruption in the country.
