The
Federation of Tourism Chambers of Central America (FEDECATUR), a
regional institution that brings together national tourism offices of
the countries in the region, granted the "Central-American Excellence
Award for Tourism without Borders, in the Friends of Tourism,
institutional category," to the Organization of American States (OAS),
in recognition of its work in support of Micro, Small and Medium
Enterprises (MSMEs) projects in Central America.
The award, launched in 2010, is given to organizations with
projects that support the sector and work in coordination with the
members of FEDECATUR. Likewise, the award seeks to encourage and
recognize the work of individuals, companies or organizations to develop
competitive, innovative, sustainable and inclusive tourism in the
region and who, through their efforts, contribute to the integration and
international positioning of Central America.
The award will be presented on October 4 in the city of San
Pedro Sula, Honduras, as part of the opening ceremony of the Central
American Travel Market Fair, which will be attended by tourism
ministers, as well as officials and businessmen from the region, Europe
and Asia.
