The
Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), José
Miguel Insulza, expressed his “deep concern over the deplorable acts
of violence” that have taken place in recent hours in Venezuela. He
said that “in a society that seeks peace, the use of violence must
be emphatically rejected.”
The leader of the hemispheric
organization expressed his respect for the decisions taken by the
competent authorities and reiterated a “fervent call for dialogue,
an essential mechanism to ensure the governability of any country,
in a framework of harmony and with full respect for
pluralism.”
