The
Organization of American States (OAS) and the Brazilian Universities
Coimbra Group (GCUB) are offering more than 300 academic scholarships
for master’s and doctoral degree programs in Brazilian universities for
2014.
The initiative of the Partnerships Program for Education and
Training (PAEC) of the OAS, supported by the Brazilian Ministry of
Foreign Affairs' Division of Educational Topics, seeks greater
integration of Brazilian universities with those of other countries in
the region, as well as to promote scientific and cultural exchanges, the
internationalization and mobilization of the students of the Americas
and the promotion of human development.
The scholarships will cover tuition, a monthly living allowance,
language support at the host university and a one-time contribution to
travel expenses and accommodation (for the first 80 fellows selected).
While the masters and doctoral degree classes will be taught in
Portuguese, there is no language requirement at the time of application.
However, fellows will be required to study Portuguese along with their
principal course of studies in Brazil and demonstrate a level of
intermediate/advanced Portuguese before completing their programs.
The programs will be delivered in person on the campuses of the
39 participating universities located in different regions of Brazil.
Classes will begin in the first half of 2014. The deadline to apply for
the OAS-GCUB scholarships is
August 9, 2013.
For more information about these scholarship opportunities and
the application process, see Partnerships Program for Education and
Training of the OAS (PAEC) here.
