The Organization of American States (OAS) will deploy an Electoral Observation Mission to the February 7 elections in Ecuador, in which the president and vice president of the country will be elected, as well as representatives of the Andean Parliament and the National Assembly.

The Mission, which includes a technical team that monitors aspects such as the implementation of technology and the evolution of the organization of the electoral process, will be headed by the Panamanian diplomat and politician Isabel de Saint Malo.

De Saint Malo served as Vice President and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Panama from 2014 to 2019, the first woman to hold those positions, and she has more than 20 years of experience in the development and implementation of public policies in Latin America.

The group of OAS observers will arrive in stages during the week prior to the election. This is Mission number 22 that the OAS has deployed to observe electoral processes in Ecuador.
