BLTA Tennis Junior Nationals Winners

The Bahamas Lawn Tennis Association(BLTA) 2019 Junior Nationals has come to a successful close as the champions and runners up were decided today in some highy contested matches.

Attached is a listing of all the finalists including the winners in the various age categories. Congratulations to all of the winners and runners up who displayed their skills all week long; the serves, the slices, the overheads, the forehands, the volleys and backhands were exhibited in stellar fashion as our juniors put on a show.

There was one triple crown winner of the tournament, Denali Nottage. Denali won in 3 categories: the Boys U18 singles, Boys U16 singles and he also teamed up with Kofi Bowe to win the Boys U18 Doubles.

The BLTA extends thanks to The following persons/entities

- The Byron Ferguson Foundation on its sponsorship of the tournament and the entire Ferguson family for their support. Byron has been an integral part of our tennis community and it is a privilege to honor him. Byron has coached our junior team travelling with them abroad to international tournaments.
- Tournament Director, Mr Wesley Rolle along with Umpires Mike Butler, Steve Taylor and Esther Newton.
- Participants of the tournament who played at a high level
-Family and friends who attended in goodly numbers.

During the closing ceremonies The BLTA recognized Mr Dugall Small and his contribution to tennis in The Bahamas.  President Darnette Weir praised Mr Small's work in shaping young tennis players. Mr. Small.worked with many young players over the years at the National Tennis Centre.

We look forward to another exciting tournament next year as we seek to make continual improvements in the pursuit of developmemt of our juniors and the growth of tennis.
