(January 27) Another exciting day from the tennis courts in Santo Domingo, as The Bahamas played well but was out matched by the second seeded team Puerto Rico. Today Afrika Smith lost to Lauren Anzalotta 6-1,6-4. Sydney Clarke also lost to Maria Aguiar of Puerto Rico 6-0, 6-1.   The duo of Donaldson and Smith  was defeated by Aguiar and Bou 6-0, 6-0.

The loss today does not hurt the Team's advancement as they have already placed in the Main Draw which consists of eight countries including the number one seeded Guatemala. There were three countries that did not make it to the main draw.

Tomorrow our fifth seeded team will take on the unseeded team from Costa Rica.  The Team remains focused on winning and is captained by Coach Bain.

On the Boys side The Junior Davis Cup will play Barbados.  Due to their loss on Tuesday the team now plays for positioning from 6th -10th in a pool of 15 countries.  The Bahamas has already positioned themselves above countries like Jamaica, Curacoa, Bonaire and US Virgin Islands. The Team of Donte Armbrister, Kofi Bowe and Yorgos Karageorgiou still have an opportunity to showcase their talents on this international stage.  The Team under the supervision of Coach Cerron, will put their skills to the test tomorrow against Barbados.
