Kareem has co-directed and produced a second feature narrative WindJammers and is in development of his third and fourth features.

[hip-hop artist] James Weech aka “Jay Complex” (The artist formerly known as ‘Gizzy’) has decided to embark on a journey that will test his skills, faith and fortitude as he pursues music full-time. Jay started rapping in 2004 as a hobby but saw the craft daunting because he lacked the skills to become a serious competitor in the rap game. However, fate would have it that in late 2007/early2008 Jay would take a serious interest in the art of rhyme-writing. Time was all Jay Complex needed to develop his skills. His relationship with B.A.S.S. is a living testament to that as he views B.A.S.S. as “ a family, badge, a flag and a label.”

B.A.S.S. is his safe haven and where he is at his best so that he can continue to grow lyrically. When asked what messages he wishes to convey to his listeners, he says he wants his listeners to feel a “real mellow and melodic aura”. Jay’s aim is to take his listeners to that, “good place” and for them to direct their thoughts to all the “chill things in this world”. After releasing his debut solo mixtape, “The Audition Mixtape”, the listener without a doubt witnessed a more mature ‘Complex’ and got a little peak into Jay’s life. This was all deliberate as he saw “The Audition Mixtape” as his audition to the world of music. He says confidently, “I want to play the part of an artist in the movie “Life” so I’m auditioning for the part.” He bares it all in hopes that he can be picked for the role.

After the release of B.A.S.S.’ official mixtape “What’s a Beat Without B.A.S.S?” which saw impressive downloads and fanfare, Jay Com informed the world on his decision to quit school and pursue music full-time. When asked why he made such a controversial decision, Jay said: For me, the real world was easier than school. Even though college is supposed to be the last chance for fun or whatever, before you reach the real working world, the work that college had was more difficult for me mentally and spiritually. To pursue something as controversial as music seemed a lot more plausible. That’s just the way my body energy works.

Now, Jay C. is heavily involved in the arts. He presently works with BJM photography and eLife as he develops his skills in photography. Jay has set out to take the road less travelled and pursue what he is passionate about despite the naysayers and critics. Jay is one who marches to the sound of his own drum
