NAOMI TAYLOR:

Recording artist Naomi Godet-Taylor is an extraordinary singer with a luxuriant, silky and sophisticated tonality to her voice that speaks straight to the heart every time!

Born in Nassau, Bahamas,Naomi’s early singing career encompassed performances with various professional local choirs and classical ensembles, For four years, Naomi developed her musical talent under the direction and mentoring of Mr. Cleophas Adderley and performed at various notable venues including Carnegie Hall and the famous Apollo Theatre in Harlem, NY. Naomi later spent three years under the vocal coaching of Lee Callendar. These early opportunities presented life changing experiences for the gifted singer.

Today, Naomi’s commitment to music and her burning passion for Jazz resonates with those who share her enthusiasm for this musical genre. A Human Resources specialist by day, Naomi transforms into a jazzy showstopper as she enters her musical zone, feeling the groove of each instrument and pouring it all out in her renditions.

Naomi has performed at the Cape May Jazz Festival in New Jersey, USA and the Toronto Jazz Festival where she was widely received. She has also  been invited to open for the renowned Toronto based weekly Jazz show, “Girl’s Nite Out (GNO)”. Other notable performances include a special guest appearance for the acclaimed 2009 Miss Universe pageant and more recently she wooed and captivated the audience when she appeared as the featured guest vocalist for the legendary Vibraphonist, Peter Appleyard in Ancaster, Canada. Naomi’s charming disposition and distinct vocal skill left listeners with that warm sensation of sitting by the fireplace with a special someone and for this, she received outstanding reviews.

On the local scene, Naomi has held regular gigs as a lead vocalist for Jazz Etc., and for the past few months, she and her has meshed her exquisite voice with the chic ambiance of the Bullion Lounge, located at the Hilton Hotel, creating a pleasurable musical treat for the guests.

“I am happiest when  I can express my feelings through my music, and my audience bonds with me musically. It’s a phenomenal experience when an artist inspires her audience this way – that’s what Jazz is about – innovation, expression and connection!” says Naomi, smiling.

In 2008, Naomi released her debut recording, “The Other Side of Love” - an astutely chosen collection of enchanting jazz standards, delivered with lush, soothing vocals and topped with rich panache.

While traditional Jazz continues to be her first love, Naomi has expanded her scope and her extensive cross-genre repertoire now covers contemporary Jazz, Rake n Scrape and Calypso; Pop, Old School, and R&B.
