SCHARADL UNEDITED

By Mechelle McDonald

Click...A snapshot of windblown hair, a sexy smirk and a strong stance floats to the floor.

Snap...A scene of raw edginess in ebony and scarlet red illuminates the camera and sends your pulse racing upon the first glance.

Think beauty, versatility, depth, varied textures and images that boggle the mind and seep to your soul.

Think ScharadL.

The humble beginnings of a tutorial mom and a financial father bore the unconventional Bahamian persona of a well known photographer who was the eldest of two children. At a young age, the essence of art captured him. From impromptu home murals as a child to notebooks and textbooks throughout his schooling, Scharad expressed himself in full force with no apologies, limitations or excuses. Graphic design was his first technical understanding of art and one that he was easily drawn to.This subject combined his love of technology, drawing and design with the infusion of color, composition, form and the uniqueness of language. Scharad describes his passion for art through both graphic design and photography in this way: " Art is a language, when you can speak it, you are an ambassador ; there's a power to being a translator, there is a gift behind it."

Fate gave him a challenge and a camera, when he had to choose between graphic design and photography as an elective. " My best friend and I agreed to enroll in the same classes. I was completely against photography but I couldn't break a promise." Scharad soon discovered that although he excelled with composition he had to improve technically to master the class. With diligent application and a risky portfolio project, Scharad graduated with honors from Savannah College of Art & Design in Savannah Georgia in 2003. With a Bachelors in Graphic Design, he returned to his hometown with the earnest anticipation of excelling in applying his degree.

“Character, like a photograph, develops in darkness.” - Yousuf Karsh - Turkish born Canadian Photographer and journalist). After his arrival, he was given many photography opportunities but had still not envisioned this as his career path. The inspiration for more expression in an unorthodox and unlimited way stemmed from the death of his grandmother in 2004 and began Scharadl Design Image & Photography. He became driven to let the world see what he was unable to show his grandmother before her passing.

The chain of events that led to his discovery as a photographer was instrumental to his success today. Our talents define our existence. In this regard , Scharad quickly states that he is no good with numbers: " Numbers? don't put that in front of me, give me a camera; that's my thing."Occasionally, Scharad finds an outlet from his daily photography of private, personal and corporate clients where he places the concept of "Me" on display. With the success of Click and Kinesis , he constantly strives to eradicate the ordinary through photos. He finds strength and motivation through his opposers , who's disregard for his gift drives him to evolve further with each shoot. As he justly states: "Art is also a science, you love it or hate it. "

Despite his growth in the industry, Scharad has not loss the modesty, introvert nature and humor of his personality. Additionally , he has engraved the concept of 'doing it all the way or not at all' from his parents to all aspects of his life. Scharadl.com showcases a darker, edgier side of the named photographer and reinvents his self image in bold and risque images. The website is a key aspect to establishing the Scharadl brand ; one of quality, creativity and passion.

For all those who aim to become a muse for ScharadL, take note: a blank canvas is a key.
