released its first quarter results for the period ending April 30, 2009.
“We are very pleased with our Group’s continued profitability - $1.043m for the quarter compared to that of $82k last year - despite the increasingly challenging economic climate,” says Mr. Gavin Watchorn, President, Abaco Markets Limited. Abaco Markets announce lease of Cost Right Abaco -

Nassau, The Bahamas –Abaco Markets Limited announces the lease agreement for the building that housed its former Cost Right Abaco store as well as the sale of the equipment used by that business.
Abaco Markets Limited has signed a 3 year lease with Price Right Ltd. for the building used by its former Cost Right Abaco store.
The lease includes an option to purchase the building at the end of the lease for $2.8m.
Additionally, an agreement was reached with Price Right Ltd. to purchase the equipment of the former business...

Nassau, Bahamas –March 18, 2009: Abaco Markets Limited released its fourth quarter results for the period ending January 31, 2009. Highlights for the quarter include:
- Net profit of $1.533m for the quarter compared to that of $628k for the same period the previous year.
- Net profit of $2m for the year compared to that of $2.177m for the same period the previous year.
- Sales increase to $26.46m for the quarter - an increase of 17.1% - along with an increase in customer transactions of 13% over the same period the previous year.
- Gross margin improvement by 0.9%, driven by reduction in shrink as a percentage of sales by 20% while the absolute shrink dollar amount remained the same as the previous year...

Cost Right Abaco closing -

Nassau, The Bahamas - Abaco Markets Limited announces the closure of its Cost Right Abaco store today (March 9th) due to its non-performance despite significant investment and restructuring.
Cost Right Abaco was closed at 6pm today as senior Management met with its employees. All employees will receive full severance packages with the majority of the 14 person staff receiving their packages immediately and some remaining on staff to assist with the transfer of both product and equipment to the Group’s other locations.
The Company has also offered continued coverage on the Group’s health insurance plan for up to 6 months to enable affected employees to find alternative coverage.
