(Video) 'The Grand Gallery' officially opens in Grand Bahama Island

The Artist community on Grand Bahama Island and the entire Bahamas were feeling Grand on Wednesday November 9th, as The Grand Lucayan officially opened the doors to their newest attraction on retail street;  ‘The Grand Gallery’. This is another bold initiative by the Grand Lucayan that is part of a series of cultural events conceptualized by Hutchison Bahamas Ltd CEO Gary Gilbert and Corporate Affairs Manager, FCP, FHC, GBAC; Sherry Rodgers Brookes and executed with the aid of Michael Pintard of Scribes Entertainment.

TheBahamasWeekly.com was on location at The Grand Lucayan for the brief official ceremony and upscale cocktail reception and are pleased to present herewith, full coverage of the proceedings. The official opening declaration was conducted by Hon. Zhivargo Laing, MP & Minister of State for Finance and Public Service who in his remarks said, “A city is never a city unless it is culturally rich, never quite the place that you can say is a wholesome place to live and to thrive in except that it has that cultural richness where the arts are thriving… and where culture is thriving and this effort that is being exerted now.” The minister further remarked about the artwork,  “these pieces can be mounted on walls on any spot on the globe and the lookers and the observers would have to say; there goes some talented artists.”

Hutchison Bahamas Ltd CEO Gary Gilbert thanked Sherry Rodgers Brookes and Michael Pintard for pulling off the event said, “We want to have more things to do for more people so that we’ll have more guests that will come to this wonderful island; Grand Bahama and have a grand time.”  Minister Charles Maynard “This is a wonderful addition to Grand Bahama’s cultural world” the minister further said that “the idea is to find attractions for persons to want to come to Grand Bahama and experience the Grand Lucayan as well as the whole island of Grand Bahama.

Artists with work on display are Kishan Munroe, John Beadle, Susan Moir Mackay, Chantal Bethel, Claudette Dean, Sheldon Saint, Alisa Streather.
